With the tenth installment of Revelation upcoming, the GWA Front Office has enacted new Ground Rules concerning all of its championships.
The GWA World Title, the GWA World Tag Team Titles and the International Title are intended to signify the status of 4 different wrestlers. The GWA World Title represents the best wrestler in the world, the GWA World Tag Team Titles represent the best tag team in the world and the International Title represents a hungry non-world champion who defends with regularity. On a night like Revelation, where all the titles are defended, they are meant to provide opportunities for 4 additional wrestlers.
The Front Office has determined that the championships are devalued when these lines are crossed. A champion's focus should be to retain the title he or she possesses, and a named challenger should focus on winning that particular title.
Therefore, the following Ground Rules are enacted, effective immediately:
Exceptions may occur in rare circumstances, such as a GWA World Tag Team Champion winning the Tournament of Bruises or an International Champion earning the Around the Clock contract. In such cases, however, winning another title may result in forfeiture of the original title.
Gone are the days where wrestlers regularly perform double duty at Revelation. On Sunday, March 11, there will be 3 separate title matches with different champions and challengers in each of them. Going forward, distinct titles held by distinct wrestlers is the official policy of the GWA.
