[The scene opens with Blade walking onto the screen from the left, behind his big oak desk that sits in his home office. A trophy case is against the wall behind him with all his trophies and copies of the championship belts he’s won over the course of his career. As he looks over the desk, he bends over and blows a cloud of dust off the top of it before sitting down and brushing off his hands.]
Nick Blade: “Excuse the mess. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these.”
[Blade smirks and looks up at the camera.]
“Technically I’m not even sure if I’m supposed to be on GWA television, considering I’m still in contract negotiations with them. You see, the GWA doesn’t want to pay me exactly what I’m worth. I want twice whatever Doomtrain is making… and they tend to pay the champs. That’s not really here nor there though.”
[He reaches into a drawer and pulls out a cigar with an ash tray. Places them both on the top of the desk, cigar resting on top of the ash tray, and continues without lighting it.]
“You know, I stole these little ‘in the office’ promos from Mr. Sinister. He would sit there at his desk, light up a smoke just like this one, and he’d jerk off his shotgun while he blabbed about whatever nonsense he could come up with for the moment. I liked the look, so I took it. You know what else I took from Sinister? His GWA Most Hated Trophy and after the BAWF run that carried over into the GWA... I also took his legacy. Since nobody has seen him after that run, I guess it’s also safe to say I took his career.”
[Blade leans back in the chair as it squeaks and kicks his feet up on the top of the desk. His hands clinch behind the back of his head.]
“That’s what people like Dorian Ryan, Doomtrain, and the Dangerous Brothers have to look forward to. When you’re standing in the road while that eighteen wheeler is barreling down the highway... you’ll just be the speed bump left behind on the pavement. Apparently I don’t even have to lay a finger on Dorian and he’ll fall apart. I wasn’t even in the building on Spotlight, but he came out, talked trash about us and the next trip he took was to the hospital. Let that be a lesson to the rest of you.”
“The Dangerous Brothers are my main concern at the moment. If I were the booker in GWA, just the fact that the most dominant tag team in the history of the GWA since EVER has returned would make me want to schedule the title match. If I were the champions, having the longest reigning tag champions in the company step through the doors would make me want to wrestle them just so I could know if I was anywhere in the same league with them. But we do business differently these days. Now we have tournaments and champions who offer you matches before you get the match, so you gotta defeat them 5 times before you just have the match you should’ve had in the first place. That’s the new era way of thinking.”
[Blade lights up the cigar and slowly takes a drag off it before continuing his thought.]
“I’m from the old school, when we knew how to hype a fight and I didn’t touch my opponent until it was for the title on PPV in front of the world. Now they wrestle jobbers every week and refuse title fights every chance they get. Being a fighting champion is overrated I suppose… or a man for that matter. But rest assured my friends, you’re all just placeholder champions who have been holding what rightfully and has always belonged to Zero Tolerance. That is all you ever were.”
[We abruptly end.]
