We see the bonafide star, Anthony Caffrey, on his cellphone, sitting on the bed in his hotel room. He is recording himself.
Caffrey: Ya know, Rock… I’m not surprised that this Ironman Match isn’t for your record. Well, actually -- no, not surprised. Did I think you would have the ability to win one more match before Pick Your Poison? No. Did I think… you’d at least… try?
Caffrey: Yeah. So you gave it a try… once... and failed. And now you’re holding out on me.
Caffrey: I saw the billboard, you and I share the billing with Sheath and Brewer. Legend vs. Unlegend, great tagline. It’s funny, you hate my face on the billboards, and in the picture I’m smiling and you’re not. I think I’ve gotten under your skin -- well, I know I’m under your skin. I’ve been there since I wore a Zero Tolerance shirt. Since our first argument backstage. Since I won the World Championship. Everything between and after.
Caffrey: And I know what you’re doing. You’re trying to save it for Revelation. Be a good poetic ending of the season. Why break the record in front of a bunch of fans in some weird convention center? I would’ve let you try. You’ve let them down, you’ve denied them the chance to see GWA history. It’s...weirdly uncharacteristic of you, though. Or so I had thought.
Caffrey: You’ve made it about you, the King of Trash Mountain. The GWA can stand however it wants… broken, battered, a shell of its former self… and it doesn’t matter to you, as long as you’re the one standing at or near the top. You didn’t say ONE goddamn thing on a GWA camera in response to me calling you on this. Maybe I missed a press junket or a morning talkshow appearance… but did you stand up for the wrestlers in the back? Did you? Or did you know that deep down, I was right, and did you take the path of if we ignore it, it’ll go away? I think we know which path you took.
Caffrey: You have wittled and slowed down just like I had thought… but now I’m starting to see why. I’ve gotten an idea of why you are how you are. Because if the GWA was up to the Old Standard… if the level of talent was there? The Nick Blades, the Danny Cages, the Tony Prides, the Faith Dunkarinos, the Ace McCools? You wouldn’t have your sway. You wouldn’t have your authority in the back. You call me the Man with No Heart, but it’s about you. You, you, you and your record, you. The great Rockshade, the legend who is about to become the winningest wrestler in GWA history… won’t break the record in front of a convention center crowd. Not in Florida. It’s not big enough.
Caffrey: And here I had thought that you were noble, and valiant, and that I had to prove my heart to you… I don’t know if we’ve had the roles reserved. I think it’s you without the heart, bud.
Caffrey: On Sunday, you’re going to prove me right. You’re old, you’re slow, you can’t do this nearly as well as you used to… and you can’t beat me in the squared circle, and you and I both know it. You see how I’m addressing everything to you, Rock? That’s because I know that if I stop to take a tangent you’re going to stop paying attention, because it doesn’t involve you. You’re going to march down to that ring, stand at the top of Trash Mountain, and prove me right. I’m a younger wrestler, sure, but I’m more of a man than you. You’re going to prove me right. Everything I’ve said about how the GWA isn’t what it used to be… how you’re not what you’re used to be… and your obsession with sticking to the top.
Caffrey ends the recording.
